Planning Events at the Barn

Brigham Hill Community Barn

No Private Parties

Because the Brigham Hill Community Barn is reserved for nonprofit and civic functions, we are sorry but we cannot accommodate weddings and other private parties. We receive many such requests, and these would quickly overwhelm the barn schedule and make the facility unavailable for its primary purpose.

If you're looking for a venue for a private function in the area, you can try one of the following:

Nonprofit, Public and Governmental Events

The barn is available at no cost to local and regional nonprofit charitable, civic and educational organizations, subject to policy and schedule limitations.

We are typically able to accommodate a variety of events at the barn, including meetings, board retreats, scout sleepovers, lectures and presentations, dinners, barbeques, music events, etc. Due to limitations of facility size and parking, we cannot reasonably accommodate more than 60 people.

We also welcome groups that wish to combine volunteering at the farm with an event at the barn. To make such arrangements, please contact Community Harvest Project.

Facilities at the Barn

We try to maintain the following facilities for users of the barn:

Scheduling Your Event

First-time users of the barn must have an orientation visit prior to their event. The barn is not staffed, and we therefore rely on informed users to insure that events run smoothly and the barn is properly opened, used and closed.

Follow these steps to schedule your event:

  1. Download and read through our Barn Use Policies and Information (PDF) packet.
  2. Contact our scheduler, Peg Ferraro, at (508) 561-4882 to discuss your event. Based on this discussion, you can then fill out the barn Event Registration provided in the above packet.
  3. Make an orientation visit with Peg at the barn, at which time you'll receive an electronic access key and learn the use of relevant equipment, as well as opening and closing procedures.
  4. Your event scheduling is confirmed when you receive back the signed copy of the Event Registration from us.

Please note, however, that we cannot accommodate requests for periodic (weekly or monthly) meetings.

Caterers

If you want to have food service for your event, you can select any caterer you wish, or bring your own food (note that public events require a local Board of Health permit). Here are a number of caterers who have provided food for barn events in the past:
